Football talk, Patriots

Diarrhea Of The Defense

I think the Patriots should take a page out of the Red Sox playbook.  They should bring beer and chicken into the locker room. It may give Albert Haynesworth the incentive to get the defense off the field.  Chad Johnson can be in charge of making the trips to Popeye’s.   It’s not like he has anything else to do during the game.  They could all have themselves a rallying beer at half time.  At least the alcohol would’ve explained the Charley Brown inspired onside kick last Sunday.   I wish everyone would stop picking on Julian Edelman.  He couldn’t help himself; the poor guy hasn’t had a substantial grab in two seasons.

Bill Belicheck should sit his entire defense this week.  I believe it will increase the chances of winning.  Running an offense without any defenders may throw the Giants off balance.   It’s not like the score will be any different by leaving them in.  I wouldn’t even bother having defensive practices any longer.  It’s the coaching equivalent of polishing a turd.   If anyone is upset over the NBA lockout, you can simple watch a Patriots game.  You can watch the offense score quickly, only to see the opposition score even quicker.  The team that makes the last shot at the buzzer wins.

Eli Manning will face some pressure this Sunday, but it won’t come from New England’s pass rush.  The comments he made about being on Tom Brady’s level may come back to haunt him.  If there’s something on a quarterbacks mind, they often miss wide-open receivers.

With all the burning that’s been going on in the secondary.  Tom Brady has asked that everyone hydrate before the game Sunday.  The only thing we can hope for is that Manning throws the ball like he did in the super bowl.  What are the chances that the receivers can consistently catch lollypop passes again.   At least we wont have to worry about any communication problems this week.  It’s a home game, so it should be nice and quiet for both teams.

What, you got money on this game or something? You really oughta be on the ESPN forum with this thread, Dan. Or call up Jim Rome and JT the Brick... Because I've tried writing a couple of smartass sports columns on this website myself. Alas, the people here are much too sophisticated to appreciate such nonsense. smile

The Patriots' defense is pretty shitty, though. Ochocinco can't catch, but maybe he could play DB? Knock a ball down, here or there. Can Wes Welker play LB?

Why didn't Belicheck challenge that touchdown last week? Why is Eli suddenly looking like the Golden Boy's equal, as he boasted? Why am I talking shit? I'm a Seahawks fan, for chrissakes. And my Fantasy RB was Chris Johnson!

But, as a Seahawks fan, I'm praying the Steelers don't win the pennant again. Obi Wan Brady may be my only hope...

Cheers

Re: Football talk, Patriots

No, I’m not betting on the Pats this year.  I’m just a frustrated Bostonian.  After watching the Red Sox drop like a British prizefighter, I have very little tolerance for underachievers.   If this team had a poor defense, I wouldn’t be complaining.  The offense can overcome a poor defense.  The problem is the defense falls tremendously short of poor.

Yes, I’m familiar with the sophisticated members of this site.  I figured if I posted under a thread called nonsense, I’d have a shot of avoiding them.  If I posted under any other title, I would’ve gotten a boatload of sanctimonious ramblings.  I find that my postings usually turn into something completely unrelated to my original intention.

It’s funny that you mentioned converting Chad into a defensive back.  I thought of the same thing in light of his absence on the field.  They converted Troy brown a few seasons back.  It’s shocking that he’s not a starting receiver. It’s even more shocking that he isn’t complaining about it.
