Re: Clarification on the "rules"

The only thing I've cut back on is posting anything for my regulars to see.  With all the new submissions pouring in, my stuff would get blown away before anyone knows it's there.  This is my first competition since becoming a member and I find the sudden surge more of a clogging-up than anything else.  I've entered the competition, but have held off reviewing for just a bit.  I'll get back to looking at my regulars' stuff, and hope they'll do the same for me!

Re: Clarification on the "rules"

But many good writers who joined for the contest stick around afterwards, and become great reviewers. Rita Aguilar comes to mind, and I've heard many others say they stuck with the site after the contest.

Re: Clarification on the "rules"

Last minute questions:  The 'post date' for the chapters has to be after April 16, 2010 ( not 2011), right?

And this year we are allowed to enter a prolog as a seperate chapter, right?  I didn't see anything mention of it in the rules this year and want to enter my first three chapters as my prologue and actual ch 1 & 2 because of how that section ends.

Re: Clarification on the "rules"

Didn't I put something in on this one?  Must have had a senior moment and accidentally deleted it.  Whatever it was couldn't have been important.  John, I look forward to seeing your submission.  It's sure to be interesting.

Yes, it's good to see some stay around and give us more to think about.  Just think, at one point many of us were the newbies.  I welcome new eyes!

Re: Clarification on the "rules"

I posted the three chapters for the contest. I've also posted two more chapters. The novel is only about half done so far, and I have been making changes in early chapters as things develop in the later ones. (And also in response to some great comments I've gotten in the reviews here). In my last novel I wound up completely rewriting the first third of the novel when I decided to radically alter the last third from the original plan. I don't think that is going to happen with this one, but I still probably will continue to make some changes. When can I post revisions to the first three chapters without compromising my entry in the contest?

Re: Clarification on the "rules"

You caan edit your first three chapters any time you like up to and after the contest deadline. The version that will be judged is the one current at the deadline. If you revise after the deadline your entry will not be compromised but neither will such edits be taken into consideration.

Re: Clarification on the "rules"

hey... is the deadline over or are subs allowed till midnight? she pecks out on her tiny kindle keyboars as she waits for little guy to get out of class.  i might pop the first three chapters of my wip up there if i haven't missed the deadline. which will mean a multi-post on the front page... sorry!  i have two loaded up and ready to publish but got behind this year and hadn't planned on entering. but if it is not too late...   and anyone know how to use caps on a kindle?

Re: Clarification on the "rules"

Did you get your chapters up, Jeni?  I thought we had until midnight, tonight.  Might be wrong though.  Anyone want to clarify that?  I just made a few edits—hope they fly.

Susan
