Copyright?

Not sure where this should go. Can/should you copyright a work in progress? Or wait until it's perfect?

Re: Copyright?

I know nothing about this, but I don't think you can "copyright" something. A copyright exists the moment you create something.

Re: Copyright?

Well you can't copyright an idea but you could copy the actual text.  But do you want to yet?

You have a loose copyright by using here on a workshop because it time/dates it.

But if you want the full copyrighted version, you could do that and fill out the legal paperwork.  The general copyright works for most.

If you just want more assurances, send it to yourself in registered mail and do not open it.   This way you could prove you wrote it before a certain date.  But most copyist change the work enough to ape it without copying it word for word.

Re: Copyright?

Every site has lurkers. All the people who write here are very nice people. But I did notice that RA Keen copyrights his stories first, and I wondered if it was something that more people should be doing.
