First time published!
AHHH I'm so ecstatic. After a handful of rejections, my flash fiction piece, "Seven," which was workshopped on this site, was accepted for the sixth edition of The Chaffey Review. This is the first time I've been published that counts. (I had a stupid little poem published when I was in high school - I don't even write poetry - and in 5th grade I wrote an essay about zebra mussels that was included in a book about the region where I grew up... lmao.) Thank you everyone who commented on this piece. I am very grateful, and so so happy! ![]()

Note- was rough on chapter 4 review, but had my head up my ass that day. Will pop over soon for 5 and review with better perspective.
I blitzkrieg submission through durothrope.com. I am running 10% pub success for submissions, so 280 submissions in 2010-2011 12≠14 publications. Thinking SEO for longer works through my domain - tradewindsweb.com but #(*#^& garrr... frustrated by   mac  - dreamweaver/coldfusion installs at present... garr... aloha

I know you'll remember this fondly when publishers are conducting bidding wars for your historical novels.
Why don't you post your "stupid little poem?" I, for one, won't believe you wrote something stupid until I read it.
Can you eat zebra mussels?
Congratulations,

Re: First time published!
Memphis, I will see if I can find it! It was about a horse who used to live at the same stable where I kept my pony. Her name was Moja; her owner was involved with an abusive man who bashed the horse's face in with a PVC pipe to get back at her for trying to leave him. I think my mom ordered a copy of the book it ended up in... I'll have to ask her.
I just received word of more success last night! I'm so happy I could die. The editor of another journal emailed me about my story, "The Encounter," which was workshopped to death on here (thank you everyone... Memphis... who must have read it 20 times) to ask me to re-write the ending. He said that he really liked it otherwise and enjoyed my "edgy" style. I never really thought of my style as edgy before, but whatever he says! I remember many commented that the ending was flat and too black-and-white, but I obstinately kept it because I was sick of working on it. I should have listened to you all. ![]()

Excellent, and please post your success here when the piece is accepted.

Congratulations. Hope you'll post the iteration of The Encounter that satisfies the editor.

Congrat's Elizabeth! It's always so good to hear when one of our little family gets published. Puts a smile on my face, it does.
