For the Woefully Behind Dragon Asses of 2010

Here's the place for 'Dragon Asses' big_smile (those of us who drag their butts and don't get in their daily wordage) to gripe about falling behind on their NaNo wordcount.  Ranting really does help smile.  Excuses, breakdowns, bitchfests, or just plain old pleas for support and encouragement welcome.  smile

I'm waaaaaayyyyy behind and it's only day three.

I have a whopping 702 words and a good excuse, as if that makes more words magically appear.  smile  I'm in the very depths of remodeling Hell right now, stayed up til after 2:30 am Nov 1st painting my bedroom before the new carpet got laid the next morning, and that night I was up til after 1:30 moving more crap from room to room.  Yesterday we had to run errands to get stools and pick a faucet, etc, and move more crap around last night.   Now they're still (yes, the job that was supposed to take 8 days is stretching into 4 FREAKING WEEKS mad ) working on laying tile and all my damn furniture is scattered over the house, and they have to order more, making them not finish until over a week from now.  GRRRrrrr.  OH, and last night at 10:30 I take a break from everything, planning to soak in a bubble bath, and I find out some asshole apparently mixed grout in my BATHTUB and left gritty hard dribbles of grout all over the place, after he or his cronies knocked another hole in the wall.

Anyway, I've been too exhaused to get much done, but I plan to make sure I write something each day.  Day One was 132 words, yesterday 570.  But I actually got to sleep a little last night, and hope to catch up by the end of this weekend.  I'm guzzling coffee as I type this, and I'm ready to NaNo myself sick today.  smile

Remodel and Nano?  Crazy....

I'm ahead.  Way ahead actually but I cheated and took a day off work and plowed through 10k in about 8 hours that day.  I plan another 10k this weekend then I'll be about halfway.  Of course I'm shooting for 75k not just 50 so I need a fast pace.  I also had my whole plot outlined and character bios written before I started so I'm actually prepared for once.

Oh yeah.  This thread is for those who are behind and not for those who are ahead to brag.

My bad.

Re: For the Woefully Behind Dragon Asses of 2010

I'm slooooowly trying to catch up. tongue Last night I managed to get my total word count up to 4,772, and put myself at only 1,886 words behind, plus of course the other 1,667 words  hmm  for today . .  . . Okay.

I'm getting in the NaNo groove, and since I've actually got to sleep a couple of hours, and the damn carpet/tile people won't be back until Tuesday roll , I'm convinced I can catch up sometime during the weekend.

Who else is gonna be sqeezing every NaNo word they can get out of this weekend?

Shadow, Congrats on finishing the prologue!    (I'm still on my first damn chapter and meant to be on a totally different section hundreds of pages away by now smile )

Re: For the Woefully Behind Dragon Asses of 2010

Well, of course you can, Ann.  wink

Just have your MC waiting in a crowded dentist office, sitting beside an overworked teacher who reads off everything she's writing down:

MC decided to strangled the woman sitting beside her, apparently a teacher in bad need of a vacation, if she didn't shut up soon.  She was in a frenzy to scribble in her gradebook, then reached into a tote bag with an apple for the teacher logo emblazened across the front, and pulled out a stack of what appeared to be report cards, reciting every damn thing she wrote down.  "Mary Sue Louise Simms has, let me see now, an A+.  Billy Bob Jenkins the first, that little scamp barely managed a D-"

Re: For the Woefully Behind Dragon Asses of 2010

My ass is still really woeful, draggin' literally since day one.  roll

I'm sooo close to finally getting caught up, for the first time this year, and my blue graph is just almost touching that purple line.  As of tonight, I'm only behind 1,610 words, so I really, truely hope to catch up before the halfway point Monday.

Anybody else still a-draggin'?  wink

Re: For the Woefully Behind Dragon Asses of 2010

I'm joining this crowd. I was doing well, then my story just died. No desire to work on it at all. I had about 17,000 but now I'm going to work on the sequel to Evolution. I've done about 1,000 words on that so I guess I'm at 18,000. No slue where I'm supposed to be.
