She is a titling GOD!  Much better than my students, who title their book reports 'Book Report' and their poems 'Poem' and their essays....well, you get the idea.  lol

LOL... Kids... But the titles do work in a simplistic kind of way. hahahahaha

Re: Ann Walters feedback sticky

Hey, loyal fans!
I have the first three rewritten chapters of LLL up, now retitled On a Wing and a Dare, thanks to Tirz!

I hope I accomplished:
-a valid reason for the flying horses (Aerial Games)
-cut out Eliv's POV, concentrating on Kamila and Daav.  I think I can show him through their eyes.
-added more with Mar, now an ambitious Rider in Kamila's dad's barn.

Here are my questions:
-Are there still too many names in chapter 1?
-Is the TV, burger joint, cell phone stuff working with the flying horses?

Lay it on me, please!  I want this whipped into shape before I go back to school on Monday.
thanks! smile

Yea!  I will get right on it Ann. I've been waiting for you to repost them.

Got a busy day today.  It's Jake's B-day - he's 13. Weeeeeeeeeee!  So he wants to play a few 'T' for teen games. LOL But will get back on later and print chapter one to read tonight. Ooops, here he comes.  Later.... wink

Re: Ann Walters feedback sticky

Hi   (Update on Sandahl Short Story anthology)
I'm having problems sending emails back to folks when they send it thru tNBW's blind
email system.
When someone does that I get an unknown sender@ unknown domain and I can't
just reply. I need the writers actual email. I'll have to mention this to all the folks
so everyone is on the same sheet of music.

The two main things I require from everyone right now (in addition to their story)
is their byline name to put on the story
and an actual email address (not a blind link thru tNBW)

Re: Ann Walters feedback sticky

Ann
Good news
I have your "Road to Sandahl edited  and
tell you the same thing I sent to the others:

I just finished reformatting* the entire story, did an edit and have it ready to
send back to you as an email attachment.
Please wait for this version before you post any more changes or corrections.
What I need from you is to compare it with any input from reviewers and
make corrections if necessary. Then proofread it yourself and make final
round of changes. When you are happy with it, send the final ammended
version back to me as an email attachment.
(DO NOT POST IT BACK ON THE SITE- you will just get more distracting
reviews and delay the final version)

*Reformatting- I have to put all the stories in one format so the publishing
process isn't delayed by it. All this means is I change it to a word doc. in
Times New Roman at 12 pts. and with a line spacing of 2. All new paragraphs
and or dialogue starts are also indented. As this process is being done I also
look for s/p/g errors (unless deliberate for dialogue purposes).
I do not edit for POV shifts or choice of words unless there appears to be
an obvious problem.

On your story I also added a couple things, a word or two and such, but I don't think
I changed the story line in any material sense you would object to, if so let me know.

It took a little longer to edit the format on yours because of a double space you
did at the end of every sentence. I had to take out any extra spaces as the publisher
says they sometimes cause problems during the production of the final MS.

Don't worry, I'm not going to whack your hand with a ruler. smile
You've got a good story here and I'm thinking it will be near the
front of the book (#2 probably) as it will add a soft romantic counterpoint
to Whitewind's "From the Sea". Would you object to adding a sentence near the
end when Ria and Ian arrive at the Crones Foot, something like "and as she
looked around the common room the first thing she saw was an exquisite blue woman
sitting at a table with a handsome man with a crowd around them."

Hey, everyone!  I have taken the bulk of On a Wing and a Dare off the site for revision, but the chapters that are up are republished.  If you have a chance, please take a look. I'm quite proud of this version.  Either burst my bubble or inflate my ego, the choice is yours!

Thanks, Lee, what a sweetie!  It's not on Amazon, though.  Very limited market, really, so I didn't pony up the extra few bucks to do that.

On a Wing and a Dare is finished!  yay.

I published a query letter for it, so even if you haven't read the whole thing can you take a look at the query?  Thanks, my friends!

I have to take advantage of the good vibes in the forum right now!

Re: Ann Walters feedback sticky

Ann

I only realized On A Wing and a Dare has a companion after I went through it. Is the other story a prequel/sequel. Do they tie together and answer some of the questions I raise. I would hesitate to question plot points if they're addressed in another volume.

Tried to keep the focus on the end chapters and on the whole story which I enjoyed.

John, the other book is a sequel to OWD, but it was written first.  Therefore, in its present form it no longer works!  I had to write OWD to establish a stronger base for the other one.  Now I need to rework the other one. smile

Ann,

Yes I did. Thanks!

Oh, no - you have to rewrite the entire story? I was going to go read that also - should we wait for the revision.

Re: Ann Walters feedback sticky

If you read WWW now, there will be a LOT of inconsistencies about the world, dates, that kind of thing.  That's in addition to its inherent first-novel problems, lol.  I should probably pull it from the site, but that feels like giving up on it and I'm not ready to do that yet.  WWW is set thirty years after OWD, so I may need to write one in the middle.  smile

I think WWW is awesome, Ann, and I think with a bit of tweaking you can make it work.  Don't give up on that one girl, it's a keeper. I think you will be surprised to see how little you need to change.  After all it is thirty years later. But hell if it will make you write one in between, I'm all for it.  I'd love to read another story in your world.  Write on, girl.

ah, Susan, my biggest fan! big_smile

I have two more weeks to focus on sending out some queries for OWD before I get wrapped up in school-starting crap.  THEN maybe I can print out WWW and read it through.  Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised! smile

Re: Ann Walters feedback sticky

I sure hope so, I can't remember to much that would be an issue since some of the MC's will be new.  Maybe if there's anything about the poisoning.  But there shouldn't be to much.  It will be awesome if you write another in between.  I would love that!

Hey Ann
How's everything going with you. I'm just about ready to send
"Visitor..." to the publication team. Would you like me to add
Novel Central to the list of other works in the back.
