Hey charity.
Yes we do write with very different styles. But that is why sites like this are so good. If nothing eles it shows how different styles can be enjoyed by all of us.

I'll be popping along to check out some more of your work later today.
Catch ya later.

Re: The review exchange

I just posted my review for ch 3... I wanted to add one thing I missed from my notes.  I think that it is very hard to tell back stories, like your story about Jesus and John...

Many times that much of an info dump can be boring. However, I was totaly interrested... I think you told just the perfect amount and kept me in there for sure.

I'm dipping my toes into the water very cautiously here, but I've already made my point about how I originally viewed the star system (post #28) and how I'm more than willing to set my own opinions aside to be an active member of this group.

That being said, does anybody put any stock in the site's ranking system? To the best of my understanding, it uses the star system.

Hey Matt. Look, as you can see, a few of us have been arguing about the star rating system, but i would urge you not to take the arguments from either side too seriousily. So we don't all see things the same way, so what. Sure wouldn't life be a terribly dull place if we did. Just jump in and enjoy yourself. We're here to write and have our woked looked at by our peers. The least important thing on this site is the star rating system. What you want are constuctive reviews that can help you create the story you want to tell.
The one good thing about the ranking system is that it helps people to push forward. To keep trying to climb the ranking ladder for a while at least. Then you sort of forget about it a bit. At the end of the day it's the story that matters, not where it's placed on the sites ranking system. If all that mattered was the rankings, we'd all be writing Lit Fiction, and Memoirs,  because these tend to be the higest climbers. (Although not exclusivly, before soemone bites my head off)

Just jump in and enjoy yourself matt.

Got it, hanman!

Yeah, I seem to have trouble quoting quotes within quotes.

It is with me always.  First saw it on a friend's kitchen wall and copied it---thirty years ago.

My daughter and son-in-law recited it at Dave's and my 25th anniversary vow renewals in 2001.  He in Hebrew first, then she in the English translation.

Three months ago they repeated it at Dave's Memorial Service.

Re: The review exchange

Hi everyone

I was so happy to discover this site a couple of weeks ago and have really enoyed reading and reviewing some really great work.  I'm impressed because much of it is, I think, better than published novels that I have been reading.  I will certainly look up the work of everyone who wants to be involved in the review exchange Hanman started.  Please take a look at my "Hand of God".  I can't wait to know "the truth" about what you all think and to improve on it based on your critiques.

Cheers for now!

Hi everyone.
As someone who is fairly new to the site i know how hard it can be to get the first few reviews going. So what i suggest is that we get some review exchanges going.
What i'm looking for is some people to exchange some reviews with me or with each other.
If your interested drop a reply here and we can take it from there.
I'm particularly looking for some of the newer writers to the site.
Cheers.

I've been away for about a month... but what a wonderful thing you got going here. Kudos!

Pssst... if and when I can, I'd love to review everyone's/anyone's poem. Just drop me a line. You don't even have to return the favour-- it's the genre I love most, the kind of writing I mostly do, and the work I really enjoy giving feedback to... plus I can knock out quite a few in a evening's sitting!

Re: The review exchange

Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new here myself.  I'd be happy to exchange reviews with anyone who wants to.  My novel is the Blood Inheritance.  I'll start looking at everyone's as soon as I can.  Be a little scarce tomorrow - been ignoring the boyfriend too long (or so he tells me in a whinny tone - LOL!) but will get to it as soon as I can.

Welcome to the site.  - April

Re: The review exchange

I've been on this site a few weeks and have had some feedback; all of it helpful.

My posted novel is an SF noir murder mystery called The Stiletto Murders.  Any comments would be appreciated.

I try to review any one who crits me.

Thanks,

Re: The review exchange

Hello,  I am not what you might call 'new'.  As I first found this site last year.  But for me it has been a traumatic twelve months.  Really didn't do too much and certainly didn't visit here as often as I should have.
I am back with a new feeling about writing and mine in particular    I love the idea of getting reviews, as one's work progresses.  Sometimes, there are conflicting comments, what works for one does not necessarily work for everyone.   So to get positive feedback is fantastic and it helps.
I agree with your suggestion, lets give it a whirl.   I thank those that do give a review, and I always try to give them a reply.   There are a lot who don't and then one doesn't know if what you suggest or not is welcome.    If you know what I mean.
Thanks again everyone who takes the time to read my work.
Happy writing.  Kay

Re: The review exchange

Hi everyone,

I like the idea of a review exchange so please contact me if interested. Just note that I don't normally romance or fantasy. Also, although I love poetry, I'm not the best reviewer of it as I don't write poetry myself.

Thanks!

I like your idea Hanman - I'd like to read similar stuff to what I write. Does anyone else write middle grade novels?
