The review exchange

Hi everyone.
As someone who is fairly new to the site i know how hard it can be to get the first few reviews going. So what i suggest is that we get some review exchanges going.
What i'm looking for is some people to exchange some reviews with me or with each other.
If your interested drop a reply here and we can take it from there.
I'm particularly looking for some of the newer writers to the site.
Cheers.

Re: The review exchange

More reviews sounds like a good idea as we get to know people on the site.  I would be glad to exchange with you Hanman.  I made my first post today, a beginning chapter of a fantasy novel titled "One-Stripe."

If you have a particular draft that you would like a review on then let me know.

Re: The review exchange

This is a sweet idea, right in the spirit of the site.

It was mentioned a year or so ago and I noticed that several people did make trades.

I have an idea though: Newbies might want to exchange between themselves for a while to start.  You are bound to get more right off the bat because all of you are in the same spot.

In addition to that, each author should review works of people who have been here longer and you'll get readers.  However I don't think you should bother asking for a chapter on chapter trade.

Re: The review exchange

Hey Hanman, I try to review everyone who reviews me.

Plus, I have a few books I just like...lol...whether they review me or not.

I'm not a steady reviewer due to my schedule but I'll take a look at your stuff this week.

Re: The review exchange

HI every one. Well i'm going to make a start at this by reviewing all of you who have replied to this thread so far. I may not get to you all today, but over the next few days i will.
As for myself i've been on the site for a  month and woud have to say that the Reviews i have recieved so far have been more than helpfull. I believe that they are turning Johnnites from a good story to a good novel.

Mishmont you made some very good suggestions.  I'm not looking to get bogged down in anything too formal though, there are writing circles on the site already. I'm just looking to make this an informal spot. A get together, where people can swap reviews. And maybe have a bit of a chat too.

Kevdarts and Trishlaughs I got your reviews this morning and will be returning the favour a little later.

Cheers to you all.

Hi Hanman! Pleased to meet you. I try to review everyone who reviews me. I'm better at poetry, though. Try me, anyway. smile

hi, I'm new to the site, too, and would be happy to exchange reviews with you.  I already have three posts up that need reviewing, and I will go and look for yours tonight.  I look forward to getting to know your writing!

Re: The review exchange

H, I saw your post on the recip' writing circle that folded.  I am new too, and have been reviewing new people but they don't seem to get the hint to review me in return (and it's a no-no to straight out ask in your review!).

I can't read scary things b/c it freaks me out when I'm sitting here alone at night, and fantasy isn't my thing either.  I have read rach-elle's first few chapters (still no review from her in return I might add).

Re: The review exchange

Abundance,

I am extremely sorry I didn't immediately review your work.  I certainly thought I had reviewed everyone who had reviewed me, but I must have overlooked it.  I just posted one for you.

Re: The review exchange

Hanman,

Re your post of 4/23: does paranormal include sci-fi? I know some folks are now wrapping all three genres (sf, fantasy, horror) into one - spec-fic, but the only reference to paranormal I'm familiar with is romance. If sci-fi is WELCOMED in your group, I'd like to join.

Hey Matt. Sone of the writing in the group definatly leans to the si-fi side of things. I'm not one of the groups moderators though, just an active member. Drop by and leave an intention to join the group in either the schedual thread or the daily discusion thread.  I'm sure you would be welcome. And of course, one of the big benifits is all the wonderful reviews.
At the moment the group is divided into three divisions, each with five members in each but we were only discusing a name for a new, forth division, the other day so more members would, i'm sure , be welcome.
I'll leave a note with one of the moderators to let them know you may be popping by.

Hi,

I'm new here, too.  I could use some reviews on chapter two of my thriller Escape Deception.  I'm ready to read.  I like the idea of a review exchange with newer members. Count me in.

Re: The review exchange

Hanman,

Sounds great.  Do you want to exchange chapters by e-mail?  Then I'll give my review on site.  I still don't know an easy way to find postings except to look through all of the Read and Reviews.  I've gone to the genre section and narrowed it down that way.  I'm still floundering a bit trying to acclimate myself to everything.  Joined May 1st.  When I posted my second chapter, I ran into a big problem as far as formatting my document.  Got that straightened out.

Let me know how we should proceed, and I'll get reading.

Re: The review exchange

HI Carolyn.  No need for e-mail. If you go to the "read and review" page and put ,Johnnites, or hanman, into the search engine on the left side of the screen about half way down the page you'll find me.  If i haven't heard from you by tomorrow, i'll find you.

Re: The review exchange

Hanman,

That was easy.  I see you have 12 chapters posted.  You've been busy.  Obviously, I want to start at chapter 1.  Will read and review over the weekend.

My original chapter 1 is out there, but read the re-write which appears with chapter 2.   The original wasn't a strong enough start.  Chapter 3, which I'm now working on, will tie into what I've previously written.  I, too, have 12 finished chapters.
