Hey I'm not sure if Legend of Lucky Daniel fits into YA, middle grade maybe? What do you guys think? Either way I'd love to be a part of the group even if its only to read and make suggestions.

Re: ROLL CALL!
Hi Rian. I'd love to join. What exactly is the process, since I've never joined one of these and am not quite sure what to expect. We circulate our stories around and give feedback, committing to complete the process in its entirety and give honest, thoughtful reviews. But how is the rotation handled? Is the entire story submitted in one shabang, or in pieces? Forgive me if this is a stupid question.

Hey ladies,
I'm going to move this to roll call discussion. Hope that's okay.
It will be easier for me to track new members that way.

Good question. BBB is out there. If it gets accepted, you'll need the second in the series workshopped. But Rian did say that people are allowed to workshop more than one book. I figure it's best to put whatever you're likely to have going into the marketplace next at the top of the list.

Then you'd get signed to a lucrative three-book deal. ![]()
Melissa Marr who wrote Wicked Lovely got signed to a three-book deal with only one fully written. I wouldn't sweat it.
Man I wish I had your dilemma, wondering what book to have critiqued.

Right now I'm just joining the group as a reviewer to help supplement the new correspondance writing course that I'm taking that's geared for learning how to write children and young adult stories. I will put up each assignment for review after I get it back from my mentor and do the revisions she suggests. I will also put up the last assignment I'm planning on writing for the other course I was taking after I get it back from that mentor and do her suggested revisions. It is also a story geared toward kids and young adults.

Okay, so it looks like that's 3 newbies.
It may work best to start second rotating group. That way no one will get bogged down.
How's that sound?

I'll pop you into the rotation of group 2.
I need to update the schedules.
You will share the week I'm scheduled for. That will make 5 writer's in group 2 on a 4 week rotation.
You can find the "in forum templates posted. Let me know if you have trouble finding them. Also, you may want to at least read the chapters you missed in the rotation, so we all stay on the same chapter numbers.

Sorry that it's dead in here. I'm going through some serious life transitions and haven't kept up.
I hope to make a return one day soon.

Is this still a working group? If not, anyone else interested in starting and moderating a YA forum?

Re: ROLL CALL!
Hi Susan,
The rotations fell off in my during my period of absence. However, if enough people are interested in starting up again, I can reorganize schedules and such. I'm just not reviewing at this time.
Divorce and unemployment separately are difficult. Both at once really really suck. Being the single mom of two isn't a whole lot different than when the hub was here though.
I haven't written in anything for a long time, but I miss it. I also miss reviewing.
All I write anymore is resumes and cover letters.
Sooooooo exciting.

Re: ROLL CALL!
You sound like you have enough on your plate right now, Rian.
Being a single parent and sole provider is really a full time job, girl. And juggling to much can take away attention where it is most needed. You can only do so much. Of course finding a job is important; I think your children's physical and mental health, and welfare is most important.
But finding the time to do something just for you; something that makes you smile, is also necessary for your mental health, especially since you’re the driving force in your household. Something that doesn't add to the burdens, something without schedules, time clocks and responsibilities.... So write... even if it's two hours a day; two hours a week; even it's just your thoughts, goals, and blessings... Write. Do it late at night when the children are asleep, in the tub, out in the yard while you watch the children play. Just write.
This forum should be the least of your worries. Is there anyone you know that would like to take on Lead Moderator of a YA group? Someone that you can work with who understands your lack of attention when you're needed at home? Then you won't have the added stress of this responsibility; and the forum should have someone that can give it their all. Being a moderator takes time and dedication. A job I don't envy, but sure do appreciate.
Like to see this cranked up again; I started a YA, but I really don't want to get involved in a forum that's sporadic. Keep me posted if you make any changes.
I'll be thinking about you,
Susan

Hi Lady,
I did see that you have a YA novel posted. Awesome!
I'm probably going to read it for fun. I need some fun!
I'm looking at scheduling that "Me" time which involves TNBW. It's easier for me to review than write currently.
There is someone who would make an excellent co-moderator. That way we can tag team things.
YA forum could rock with the right amount of attention. Since you indicate there is potential and interest, I will see about getting it back off the ground.
Warm regards,
Rian
