Interest...

Okay, the first post is to see who is interested in working together in this specialized group?  I know lots of folk do both memoir and fiction, and am not sure that we have enough people to support a stand-alone group... but I hope we do.  Remember, small is beautiful!

Peace!
Sarah

Okay, this is now turning into an issue, so let me put it in my sig file so everyone knows upfront:  I don't read or review fiction that includes sexual violence.  ] I just don't.  I will fight my way through sexual violence in your memoir, but not in your fiction.  I apologize in advance for anyone who is inconvenienced by this.

Re: Interest...

Alright, we're off to a good start!  Help me poke the other memoirists on the site.  I'll go see if I can drag Ellie over here...

Re: Interest...

Okay!  I certainly think we can manage more folk, but I also think the four of us could be a very strong group on our own.    Let's give it a day or two and see who else wants to join us, and then start talking about what we want to do.

Re: Interest...

count me in Sarah.

Will this be a workshop?

Perfection must be a lovely state of being.  Saves all that unnecessary self-examination.

Re: Interest...

I am interested, but the more I think about it, this spot belongs to someone who knows what they are doing memoir-wise. I love memoirs, just don't know if I am ready to tell the truth. I probably should stick with fiction for the time being. I don't want to take the spot from someone else.

No!  We need you!  Even if you aren't ready to write, we need your voice in our conversationsn about memoir.  You have such a wonderful understanding of things.

I'm struggling with truth-telling, too.  And with having to know thet truth, in order to write it.  Don't leave us just yet.  Please?

Re: Interest...

I agree.  Tell her we'll let her win at scrabulous (though maybe "let" isn't the operative word here) lol

Tap flowing_pencil, she has a good eye/ear for memoir in her reviews and in her own poetry.

Re: Interest...

Ha! Scrabulous, smabulous! I'll hang if you want me too, but be forewarned, I don't know what I'm doing. If someone comes along that does, don't feel bad about booting me out, that's all I'm saying.

So now what?

Go to the other thread in this section. Sarah posted a link to an essay.

Glad you're in here. You are already writing memoir in some of your short stories (the yellow cabin). You have to be accurate, but you don't have to tell all.

Re: Interest...

I am a liar.

Except in my writing, that is.

Funny how having to stick to the truth on paper makes me so free with it in speech and promise, isn't it?
