I'm pleased to announce the start of the 2011 Strongest Start Novel Competition. This is the fifth year that we've run it contest and as in previous years, the contest asks authors to submit their best three opening chapters. The book does not need to complete and unlike other competitions authors are free to edit and improve their submissions up until the submission deadline of June 8, 2011.

This year, in addition to the main competition we have three sub-competitions. They are:

- Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror
- Young Adult
- Humor

We've also recruited a great panel of judges, including a top reviewer from Amazon, a publisher, and two authors.

The grand prize is $500 and a comprehensive publishing package from CreateSpace valued at over $1,700 that includes comprehensive manuscript editing and the design of a cover. Everyone can benefit from these services.

As always, our primary goal with the contest is to create a fun environment in which everyone receives the motivation needed to hone their opening chapters to perfection.
