Re: AAAARGH!!!

The best time to log on to nano is on a weekday morning.  I had no trouble about 8:00 a.m. on either young writers' site or adult one.

THey've been doing maintenance - pretty much every day when I log on - I roll my eyes, post  a few snarky posts in this site and then get a coffee - then the maintenance is over - Tess xx

Re: AAAARGH!!!

Penang,

Like you, I like to update my word count as often as possible. smile  I get a thrill out of seeing that blue graph grow, so I totally agree it's frustrating.

Maybe you could try to add X amount of words each time the site goes down?

Re: AAAARGH!!!

You guys 'like to see your bar grow."  How about having 30 students obsessed with what you are posting?  If I don't keep up with my daily word count I get FLOODED with emails and nanomail, most of it taunting.  "Haha you aren't writing and you expect us to" kind of stuff.  And I can't even get on Nano and say, "Gee, I'm working on report cards.  Hope you like your FFFFantastic FFFFabulous grades."  (emphasis on FFFFFFF  like failing, get it?)  Okay, enough of this.  I have to get back to the darn novel.....

It is frustrating but cut them a little slack.  They have to maintain a fully functioning site that is flooded by hundreds of thousands of people in a short period of time uploading terabytes of information all at once with only money from donations for things like staff, servers, and other hardware.  I think they're doing alright.  Wait a week or so when 100,000 people or so give up on their noveling aspriations and all will be well again.

Re: AAAARGH!!!

Hey Penang,
Maybe work your frustrations into your NaNo.  A main character could be cussing over a site that keeps going down that he/she really needs or wants to get onto.  You could vent in your novel, with the added bonus of upping your word count each time the site goes down  wink

Ang,

I hope my post didn't seem rude.  I didn't mean it that way if it did.

I didn't read any rudeness into it. I tink you have a very good point about people dropping it. They probably figure they'll  have minor glitches at first but once people start dropping like flies it'll work fine smile
