Thanks Rita, I finally figured out how to upload a photo. It's about time I show my face around here, lol

Aw shucks, thanks Lee. Maybe one day I'll get to see it on the back of my book.

I like the new pic to Jeanne! Liked the last one as well, though. But you look cute with the shorter cut.

Hmmm, older I get the thinner my hair gets, and the thicker my waist.
And I don't even want to talk about things getting shorter...........

Re: Jeanne M. Bannon
To those of you reading Dark Angel, I'd like to ask for your advice. Throughout the entire novel I've written each chapter in the pov of only one character at a time. In the last few chapters, there are so many characters together at the same time I'm finding it necessary to jump povs a few times within the same chapter. Do you think this is wise or should I try to stay in one character's pov at a time? Staying with one at a time makes my job so much harder and I lose the internal thoughts of the others in the room.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I think I may pose this question in another topic in the forum as well.
Thanks everyone.

Re: Jeanne M. Bannon
how much of a jump is it? You know I've done this a couple of times? would it be the same as the times I have done it?
on my latest chapter (ch23?) I've switched between 2 characters within the chapter. My switches probably need to be cleaned up. But I think if you make it clean enough so the reader knows whats happening it should work.
if its really significant to know what's going on through each characters eyes, perhaps you could think about mirroring the scenes.
Showing the scene through each characters eyes. just a thought. It can be cool when its really different.
or choose one character! ![]()

Re: Jeanne M. Bannon
Thanks Lou - I've written a lot today - almost three chapters. I'm almost finished the book, but I can't post anything until I polish it up. I did jump around between characters (on purpose) because I couldn't write the scenes any other way without each chapter being about a page and a half to a page long. For the most part I stay within three character's povs. I spend enough time with each for the reader to know what's going on and who's thinking what, but I'm not sure if I'm breaking some kind of golden rule of fiction writing.

Re: Jeanne M. Bannon
Remember Jeanne, all those rules are only rules for people who can't do them well.
If you can handle the switch between multiple POV's well, then those silly rules don't apply.

I dont' have any problems with pov shifts, as along as it all reads right.
I don't think you should put limits on your creativity. This site is a great place to try something new, and expand your talent.
Just post what you do and we can read it. That way you will get real feedback.
you never know, you might have a special skill at pov switches... if not, you can just perfect it!! ![]()

Re: Jeanne M. Bannon
Thanks Lou - I just posted a chapter, but the pov shifts come in the ones that will follow it. I appreciate your help Lou - at least I know it's not verboden and can be done.

Re: Jeanne M. Bannon
I agree with LouLou, Jeanne, but I switch those POV's on a regular basis. LOL And I read a few published authors that do the same. Quite a few. I figure if it works and reads well, it's okay to jump out of that box.
I just printed your next chapter. I will hop on it tonight.

Re: Jeanne M. Bannon
Thanks for your input Susan. I figure I just gotta do what I gotta do to get the thing finished. I've actually written the next three chapters and have to polish them up and then I'll wrap up a few looses ends in an epilogue.
Thanks for being such a loyal reader and friend ![]()

Re: Jeanne M. Bannon
I did it. I finished writing Dark Angel tonight. I'm feeling quite proud of my accomplishment, but not going to rest on my laurels - got to start the rewrite. Anyway, thanks to all my wonderful friends here on the site for not only encouraging me, but teaching me and pushing me to be a better writer. I appreciate you all very much ![]()

Way to go Jeanne, I remember finishing my first book. I foolishly
thought I was pretty much finished. Then came a year of reviews, edits and rewrites.
I never really got it what I would call perfect, but I was glad when it was ready to
go to the publisher.
If you are thinking of self-publishing with a POD company, here is a list of them:

Good Luck with it.![]()
Lee
PS: I gues I need to get my butt in gear and start reviewing Dark Angel.

Yea! It feels great, doesn't it? Congrat's Jeanne! But I always feel empty, as well as excited, when I finish writing a novel. I also hate to finish reviewing one. Sigh. I miss the characters and the writers. But I'll be hanging with you on those edits, girl! ![]()
