Recommend a novel, poem, or short story posted on the site to others
Based on your feedback, we've created this forum for you to recommend a piece of work on the site. The only rule for now is that each member can only recommend one piece of work per week. Thanks to all who made the suggestion.
Please remember, only one suggestion per member per week.
Thanks,
Sol

Hi Friends
I recommend Christine's Odessey, by wordsmith. This is a great piece for readers of almost all ages, and it is a very fine example of tight writing, and plot development.

I agree, Linda. I have been reviewing this work, and I find it thoroughly enjoyable! I just wish the author would WRITE FASTER! Elle

Linda,
Thanks for recommending Christine's Odyssey. I have to extend thanks here for your constant encouragement and support. The critiques have helped tremendously and have helped me challenge myself to try to do a better job with each chapter.
Elle, thanks for keeping up with me, I wish I could get it done faster too, but unfortunately, life gets in the way and I'm crazy enough to be writing two tales at once.
I'll do my best to keep up with the writing. I should be posting again in another couple of days. Happy Holidays to you both!

Elle,
Ooops! I did the default thing again in doing a rating which came out at a 3, I intended for it to be a 5. Thanks so much for picking up on that error! Happy Holidays!

Re: Recommend a novel, poem, or short story posted on the site to others
Hey, wordsmith,
I grew up in the days of serial novels in magazines and serial stories in the movie theaters; I can wait! I waited, somewhat breathlessly, for the episodes of Star Wars and Lord of the Ring, and I didn't die in the waiting. As an "old broad," I have the luxury of reading a 500-page novel (or two in one day!) through to the end without interruption, so I have become a bit "spoiled" in that regard.
Take your time! I'll enjoy the story as it comes. Elle

Hi Sol,
Sorry about that. Now that I'm aware won't do it again.
Thanks.

There are so many great novels on this site! I'm bummed I can only recommend one. Anyway, Kirk Ort's Journey of Addie Boyd is my recommendation for this week. Rollicking adventure, fiesty lady takes on Wild West and a few of its more interesting denizens; you got history in there, real characters, wonderful, rich tapestry of a story, and a super writer.

Roisin: Recommend as many as you like, I say. Unless there is some rule I've missed out on. Otherwise, many novels (like mine) become the private property of a steadfast few who enjoy them. Besides, the whole point of the site is exposure and criticism--I think so anyway. I test things here before I send them off.

Hi Rhiannon,
The only rule we have is that a member only make one recommendation per week. This is to the Recommendation thread from becoming clogged and to force members to choose amonst their top choices. Of course, you can make a different recommendation every week.

OK. I guess I can recommend another brilliant novel; STREET OF ROGUES BY WHATTA. If you haven't read it, you're missing out. I've also run into two other brilliant novels, but I guess I've used up my allotment for this week. I'll be back! Too much good stuff going on to not stick my nose in and say yay every chance I get.

Thank you Roisin! While I have not yet picked up your novels to read, I am mightily impressed with the short stories I've read. I definitely recommend reading any of your works.
If you want to read someone with a command of the language, read Roisin's work -- any of them. (Easy points, no nits!) The descriptions, imagery and the whole mood of these works are exemplary.

I have three books to recommend. (Then I'll stay out of here for three weeks, Sol; but if I don't do it now, I'll forget, cuz I'm old and feeble... but creative enough to call sitting on my glasses 'hindsight.')

If, like me, you like poetry to evoke, or instil an image in the mind, then look no further than 'Yakpawulo's harvest', by Onike. Simple, effective and exquisitely proffered, this writing is a sheer pleasure to read.

Not sure if anyone has suggested this one, and I'm guessing MANY of the older members have read it, but :
ECHOSIS---
-- is quite possibly the best novel I've read on the site so far, not only is it entertaining, but it MEANS SOMETHING about art... I actually look forward to reading my chapter every day...
Echosis by Odin Roark
